There is a new free sample from the Wal-Mart website.  This is for Eucerin Daily Skin Balance Lotion.

I check the Wal-Mart website often for these and have gotten some great free samples in the mail!  They are great travel sizes to throw in your purse or glove box - or just to have extra on hand.  

It's also nice to get something in the mail besides bills and junk mail!

Garage Sale Season

 I am SO weirdly excited this time of year when Yard Sale Season begins!

I usually have a small budget (about $15-20) depending on the week and even though my boys like to come along...I really prefer going by myself or with a friend.  

Kids at garage sales = bringing home junk toys!  

If I do bring them, we have very simple rules at our house:

1. Do NOT ask mom loudly if you can have something. Mom does not want to have to explain what junk is in front of the "junks owner."
2. Do NOT beg, whine or cry if mom says no.
3. Treat it like a treasure hunt, we may find something, we may not, but we still have fun and get a doughnut afterward.

I only had time to stop by two sales on Saturday in between soccer games but what a disappointment!  One of the houses wanted crazy prices for toys - we are talking $15 for a Fisher Price plane and $5 each for the figures that went in it.  

WHAT?

I had to bite my tongue when she started explaining why they are worth so much - to HER.  Key phrase there friends.  

Your stuff is rarely worth that much to others!

I loved this video that won a contest over at Hip2Save.  Sandy J. really sums the whole "how to garage sale" thing.

Free Book at Barnes and Noble

Barnes and Noble is offering a Summer Reading Program for children in Grades 1-6.  

They will receive a free book for reading only EIGHT (8!) books!  

Go to their website here to print out the passport papers and get your child started.

This should be so easy!  The hard part will be telling Greg why he can't get a free book also! :(

Wal-Mart Shopping Trip and Price Match-Ups!

Since I like torturing myself a good challenge, I took LuLu and Greg with me on a couponing shopping trip to Wal-Mart this morning.  

I bought this:

Total Price:  $123.71

I PAID: $76.12

For a total savings of $47.59 or 57%!!!

Not pictured here are the 12 cans of dog food that I was able to get for free with coupons for my mom and dad's dog.

Coupon Fraud

I went into a local store this morning to use an ad coupon for some cereal.  I was able to pick up 5 boxes of Quaker Life Cereal for $1.00 each.  A little higher than what I have been buying cereal at -  but still not a bad deal and the boys love it. 

The cashier had mentioned that customers were coming in and grabbing stacks of the ads to collect the coupons!  Last time they had run this ad campaign, the company accused the store of fraud...saying there was NO way that many coupons had been used.

They obviously had never seen how many children there are in Utah or heard of food storage! 

Would you grab a stack of ads for the coupons like that?  
Or are you more of a "rules are rules"  sort of couponer?
