Garage Sale Stories Week #2

Hard to believe a week has flown by!
We've been finishing up this round of swim lessons and I've had a sick little boy.  I got off to a late start on Saturday and managed to find some great things for Lauren.

There was a huge community sale in the parking lot of a local grocery store.  Some booths were great and their items were priced really well.  Some thought they were actual retail shops and were looking for full price on their items.  I've never understood how people can ask $5-10 for a shirt that they are selling in their front yard?

The green dress was the most expensive at $4 but I got all the rest at $2 each.  They are all in like new condition and LuLu LOVES her dresses so I was pleased about that.  I've washed them and put them into a bin downstairs so they are ready to go for next summer!

I paid .50 cents and $1.00 for these items.  Just cute little t-shirts and play clothes.  The little pink corduroy jacket looks adorable on her so we'll keep that out for preschool this fall.
Doc Martens in like new condition - $2.00!  I'll sell these on ebay.
Same with these Dansko shoes I picked up for .50 cents.

I actually got to go by myself this week!  What a treat!   When I do that I try not to be gone too long so Dan isn't grumpy trying to get things done with the kids.  I really wasn't in a super shopping mood anyhow so I only hit 10-15 sales and I was done.  But I think I did pretty well for my time out!

Did you find anything fun this week?

Garage Sale Stories Week #1

I'm going to start a little weekly series called Garage Sale Stories...because you know how much I love garage sales and I meet the weirdest people out doing it. (Not sure what that says about me?)  Hmmmm.

I love talking about the deals I get!

I was exhausted Saturday morning and debated going at all (gasp!) when I realized that Dan would be at Scout Camp with Graham.  This meant I was heading out with both Greg and Lauren.  Greg is a yard sale ninja...he is quiet and quick then goes in for the kill.  Lauren yells at me across the lawns and driveways holding every piece of junk up asking me to buy it for her.

We did okay - got the scouts off at 7:30 and we were on the road with our map.  Greg, once again, hit the JACKPOT!
I didn't give him a dime.  He bought the Bionicles for $5.00, scored a tin full of 75 rare Pokemon for $1.00 (and they threw in the sticker books!) K'Nex Motercycle for $3.00 New in Box, a Lego puzzle for .25 cents, and night vision goggles that work awesome (we all tried them out in the basement last night) for .50 cents.

I did not fare as well since I was trying to keep LuLu away from everything.  I did manage to find her a pair of jeans, three dresses (2 are Gap so great for resale) and a TCP raincoat for $1.00 each.
Another pair of jeans, Gymboree sweater, and Gap khaki skirt. $1.00 each
The clothes were marked $2-3 each - but the husband of the husband/wife team got left outside with the baby while she went in to take a phone call.  You could tell he was irritated and so I made my move.  Cash in hand, offer ready.
Worked like a charm!
I did score a J.Crew pullover jacket and this HRC Los Angeles jacket for $1.00 each that I will list on ebay.   We didn't even make it until 9 a.m. when LuLu was crying/begging to go home.

So it's still fun to take the kids now and then, I especially love that Greg is really learning that not everything needs to be brand new and full price!

Did you find any great deals this weekend?

Down to Nothing

Sadly, the vacation fund has been drained down to $25.00 once again.
Dan and I decided that we really REALLY needed to get cabinets and counter tops for our new basement laundry room.
No doubt I'll have to work twice as hard to get those numbers back up again, but we are excited to get lots of new storage space!
I'm ordering the cabinets this weekend, they should be installed sometime next month!
Whoo-hoooo!
It's *almost* as fun as a Disneyland ride, right?!

Spic N Span

There is a great coupon HERE for $1/2 Spic n Span spray cleaners.
Wal-Mart has it for 97 cents per bottle, making it 47 cents each!
Great way to stock up on cleaning supplies for cheap.
Don't forget to hit the back space and print the coupon twice!

Smith's/Kroger Trip

Do you all get sick of my weirdo grocery store shopping trip pictures?
No?
Ok, good...here's the one from today!
Before sale and coupons - $303.46
Yummy Sweet Baby Ray;s BBQ Sauce for $1.00
I stocked up for some outdoor grilling this summer.
Why would I want to go back and pay $2.99 for this later?
Stock UP friends!
You don't have to be weird about it and buy the store out to get a little pantry of savings going!
Also, powered drink mixes were .99 cents - perfect for thirsty little ones at Bear Lake and Cub Scouts!
Cheap mommy lunches because I don't like mac n cheese and hot dogs.
Enough soap for 140 loads of laundry - that should last about a month around here.  Seems like it anyhow!

I PAID - $157.03!!
A savings of almost 50%.  Good, not great, but I'm happy with it!

Another Smith's Kroger Trip

I made a very big mistake by going to the store late last Saturday night - uh, duh Kristen, it's the night before Mother's Day and every procrastinating male in a 20 mile radius was there picking things up.

But...I was already there - without KIDS!
So I decided to brave the crowds and get my coupon shop on!
How embarrassing...I had 4 or 5 guys standing around watching me at the register asking me questions about the coupons.
I've never had an audience before!  Yikes.

Before sales and coupons the total was $254.16

I spent $104.52!

These are a few of the deals I used...

Ronzoni Healthy Harvest pasta, .49 {promo price- must buy 10 participating items}
