Garage Sale Stories - Saturday 8/4 - COATS!

Greg did it again - he came and woke me up at 7 a.m., dressed and ready to go.  I was SO tired - but pulled myself out of bed for my yard sale date. He rarely lets me hold his hand in public anymore so I'll take all the time I can get with this boy while he still lets me!
Found these Ed Hardy by Christian Audigier jeans at the "formerly employed by Hooters" yard sale.
Not kidding, if you've ever wanted anything Hooter-wear, it was available.
Gap 1969 Limited Edition denim jean jacket - Medium
YMI Corduroy tie waist jacket - there are pleats in the back that make this look slightly steampunk to me but I wasn't sure if it was enough to list it as such?  It's a Juniors Small and brand new!
 Chico's Black Paisley Coat - Size 2 (12/14)
Boys XL 14 Wool Zip Front Coat from Old Navy in excellent condition!

Eddie Bauer Brown Corduroy Coat - Large
Anthroplogie Halogen Brown Corduroy Jacket  - Size Large
Sundance Catalog Peach Corduroy Jacket - Size 6
And this American Girl gem I picked up a loooong time ago.  Missed the Christmas season to sell this but decided it was time to start listing winter items now.  Might as well while I have the time. It sold within 2 days for $40 + shipping!

Have you started listing winter items yet?  Or do you list them all year long?

Garage Sale Stories - Saturday 7/28

I haven't been to as many yard sales this summer as I wanted to - it seems like every weekend has been jammed packed with family things (which is good) but I miss going out!
My seven year old, Greg LOVES to go and he was in my room, dressed and ready with his little bag of change at 6:45 a.m.

I love it!  He's a great little thrifting buddy - so off we went!

He scored on the Nerf guns - big ones.  Ended up with 3 of them for $7 total.
Kept him and Graham busy at a family party later that night!

I did really well on the clothes - purchased everything here for $1-2 each.
Younique cropped jean jacket - Large
Eddie Bauer Merino Wool Long Cardigan XS
Cache Black Embroidered pants Size 12
Smokey the Bear plush - I don't buy too much of this kind of thing but he was cute and I've never seen one before.  So I'll give it a shot.
RYU Cotton Ruffled Jacket - Large
Lafayette 148 Size 6 Tweed and Leather Skirt
Eddie Bauer Mens XXL Corduroy Flannel lined Jacket
BKE Buckle Sabrina jeans Size 26

Not too bad!  Sales picked up over the week and I am anxious to get back to my normal shopping next week.  The more I list, the more things sell and I've got preschool to pay for!

The Size 12 Yard Sale

With my kids being out of school I have taken the month off from shopping and just catching up on listing items I have already purchased.

This week that means a LOT of corduroy and some winter items.  It seems a bit early to sell the fall things (???) but I'd rather have them listed in my store waiting for a buyer than waiting in the bins in my basement.

I did hit one yard sale this last month and IT WAS PAYDAY!  The family was moving to South America and all clothing was 50 cents.  Worth a little digging?  Um, YEAH!

I spent $15 on 30 items and have already sold one for $20...everything from here on out is pure profit!

Eddie Bauer Corduroy Boot Skirt Size 12
One of several pairs of size 12 Gap jeans
 Gap Khaki pants - 12
August Silk black sparkle skirt - size 10
NY & Co black wrap dress - Large
Ann Taylor Loft plaid skirt - 14
Eddie Bauer plaid wrap skirt - 12
ATL Studio (Ann Taylor) plaid skirt - 12
J. Crew brown corduroy skirt - 12

So even if I just sell each item for $10 - that would be a $285 profit before fees!  (Let's cross our fingers for more though!)

Lights OUT!

Don't get me wrong, it's been nice to have a break from taking pictures, listing items, running to the post office - but I don't think this week could be ANY slower for sales.  Just miserable!

$107.00 for the entire week.  Funny how when I started doing this that would be A GREAT week!  I'm getting greedy, aren't I?!

I've been cleaning out the kids rooms, toy bins and making my own donation pile of things we no longer need.   Some of which I've turned into random listings.  I usually stay away from kids lots, but thought I would go for it and see what happens.
 Gymboree "Kitty Glamour" Size 3T
Boys 5/6 Lot of 11 Shirts
 more of that lot...
Gymboree and Children's Place Mixed Lot 3T
Gymboree "Harvest Leaves" Sweater and Skirt Size 3T - SOLD!

Anyone else feel like their store has had the light turned off on them?

Upscale Brands

I love it when I come across upscale, high end brands, but usually the downside is that they tend to take a bit longer to sell.

The more unique the item, I find the more time I need to let something hang around until the perfect buyer comes along.

Try this skirt for example...
Oilily "Tart" Floral skirt, size 12
This would retail for close to $250 (yikes) and I am asking $150 for it....I paid $1 for it so we shall see.
It's not the type of skirt just any girl walking into Old Navy would grab off the rack and buy instantly, is it?

I'm just waiting for that one special girl who thinks this is fabulous and has to have it!

Tuesday Inventory

The kids are home now for summer and we've been having a great time playing with friends and eating $1 sno-cones.

Tennis lessons start tomorrow and we can't hardly wait!  We LOVE tennis around here!

I am taking a few weeks to  "catch up" on inventory that I have around the house.  No more shopping for about a month!  I'm really welcoming the break though.  I'm sure I have plenty to keep the store full from the looks of all my piles of stuff.
These were my new additions this week:
NWOT Gap Brown Pants Size 8
Gap Size 8 Khaki Capri Pants
Eddie Bauer Black Pleated Skirt Size 10
Ann Taylor Pink Silk Capri Pants Size 14
Gap Khaki Hutton Long Skirt Size 1
Cache White Skinny Leg Capri Pants with metal buckle Size 6

Tuesday Inventory

The kids had their last day of school today and I realized this week that we are totally ready for all of our summer plans - which put a huge cramp in this little eBay habit of mine.  Instead of going off by myself to shop or just taking Lauren - I will now have all three with me.

I think bribes, um rewards are okay for good shoppers, don't you?

Not that many sales will be happening anyhow.  My goodness it has been slow!

I have managed to get these items listed into the shop:
1940's Vintage Caravelle French Sizzling Servers
I've had these lying around for the past 10 years - they belonged to my grandmother and while I think they are fabulous...I'm never going to use them or do anything with them.  So off they go!
 Chico's Brown Gauchos Size 1 (8/10)
 Avenue Denim Skirt Size 20

I'm really needing to dig through my pikes around here and just get the ugly stuff listed.  I tend to list first what I know will sell for fast or a high price and yet it's the ugly weird things that tend to go first!
